Testing the tube system. It has two valves: one inside the cork and one at the other side of the tube, connected to the bicycle pump.
As you can see, Geert painted the launcher yellow (using gloss enamel paint). Maybe we'd call it the Yellow Danger or something :-)

You can see air bubbling out of the tube, so it seems to work.

We pull the cord, off go the nails, and of course, nothing happens. Here, Pieter is trying to depressurize the bottle.

Cause: the connection of the tube to the cork was not very good; water (and pressure) was leaking out.

Extra problem: how do you get the cork out of this thing?

This picture is taken about 1 second after Pieter (to the left on the picture) pulled the rope. Again, of course, nothing happens.

Pieter, again, depressurizing a rocket.

Cause this time: the cork simply was fitted too tight into the bottle. Again: how do you get the cork out of this thing? Maybe it was because the cork was dry (it's probably better to let it soak in water for a while before use) ...
