At one end of the tube, we connect a launching mechanism.
At the other end, a bicycle pump.
Maybe you can't see on this picture, but the tube seems to work:
bubbles of air are visible when the pump is applied.
But alas, the tube appears not to be sealed well enough and most of
the pressure leaked out. The bottle stays nicely in place when we
pull the rope.
Look, three bars of pressure! If you can really read the pressure
on this picture, you need worse glasses.
So, our brave scientists resort to the tested and tried method
without extra tubing.
Another 1.5 liter bottle hits the skies.
We got some visitors, one of which could pull the rope, to check out
for himself that it takes virtually no effort to pull the nails away.
Some lateral wind today, so almost all of our launches went over this
tree for some added visual effect :-)
