Arriving by plane

Brussels National Airport: www.brusselsairport.be
The railway station is located at the ground floor (level -1) of the airport. There is a direct train to the railway station of Ghent (Gent Sint - Pieters) that takes about 1h23minutes.

  • Sunday August 21th 2005
There is a direct train to Gent Sint-Pieters four minutes past the hour, the first train leaves at 6:04 and the last at 22:04. The last train to Ghent follows an alternative route with a change in Brussel Zuid/Bruxelles Sud. It leaves at 23:04.
  • Monday August 22 th 2005
There are two trains to Ghent every hour: one leaves at four minutes past the hour, a second at ±45 minutes past the hour. The first train leaves at 5:47, the last at 23:04.

There is a faster way to get to Ghent (about 1 hour), but requires a change in Brussel Zuid/Bruxelles Midi. For further details we refer to http://www.b-rail.be/. A single ticket to Ghent will cost you about 8,10€.

Charleroi Airport: http://www.charleroi-airport.com/
There is no railway station close to the airport. We suggest to take one of the following possibilities:

  • At Charleroi Airport, there is a (private) bus waiting for your plane. This bus takes you to Brussel Zuid/Bruxelles Midi railway station (a 45-min trip). From there you can catch a train to Ghent. The bus costs 10,50 €, the train to Ghent 7,10 €.
  • At the Ryanair desk in Charleroi Airport you can buy a special railway ticket (`code C61’) which costs 10 €. This ticket includes both a trip with a public bus (nr `A’ or `68’) from the airport to the railway station Charleroi Sud (± 30-min) and a train ticket from Charleroi Sud to any Belgian railway station of your choice (in your case Ghent Sint-Pieters). To get to Ghent you have to catch a train to Brussel Zuid/Bruxelles Midi and change there to Ghent.

The second possibility is cheaper, but very slow! Especially because there are only few public busses from the airport in Charleroi to the station. So, if you arrive later then 21:00, we only advice the first solution, because there is not enough time to catch the last train from Brussel Zuid/Bruxelles Midi to Ghent.

How to get to the Hotel

From the railway station Gent Sint-Pieters
A tram station is located in a tunnel under the railway station. To get to the Hotel, we suggest to take tram 21 or 22. Both trams stop at the street in which the hotel is situated: Oude Houtlei. A ticket costs 1€ and should be bought at a ticket machine located on the platform of the tram station.

A tram leaves every fifteen minutes. The first tram on Sunday August 21th leaves at Ghent Sint - Pieters at 6:04. The last is at 23:36. On Monday the first tram is at 5:54. The last is at 23:36.
