Research of Erik Rijcken

I am a member of the algebra research group of the Department of Mathematics of Ghent University. My research project with Tom De Medts is called Groups of rank one over local rings.

My research is in the area of group theory, with connections to other algebraic structures such as Jordan algebras, local rings. More specific, I am trying to generalize the concept of a Moufang set (equivalent to BN-pairs of rank one) to a local setting, in order to encompass more classes of groups, in particular linear groups of rank one over local rings.
